Fly Islamabad to Skardu
45-minute flight to Skardu (2,230m); overnight in Naran via the Karakoram Highway if the flight is cancelled.
Skardu Preparation & Sightseeing
Permit formalities, Kharpocho Fort and Satpara Lake; if the Askole road is open, the team may drive up today.
Drive Skardu to Jhola via Askole
141km jeep drive to Askole, the last village of the Shigar Valley, meeting the porter team, and on to Jhola camp (3,150m).
Trek Jhola to Paiju
21km along the Braldu River to Paiju, the green oasis before the glacier.
Trek Paiju to Khoburtse
15km onto the Baltoro Glacier to Khoburtse, beneath the Trango Towers.
Trek Khoburtse to Urdukas
Short 6km climb to the grassy Urdukas terraces above the glacier.
Acclimatization Day at Urdukas
Rest and acclimatization day with short walks above camp.
Trek Urdukas to Goro II
12km up the centre of the Baltoro; first night camped on the glacier ice.
Trek Goro II to Concordia
12km to Concordia (4,500m), where K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrums fill the horizon.
Trek to Broad Peak Base Camp
6km up the Godwin-Austen Glacier to Broad Peak Base Camp (4,800m), visiting the Gilkey Memorial.
K2 Base Camp & Return to Concordia
The high point: 14km round trip to K2 Base Camp (5,150m), returning to Concordia for the night.
Trek Concordia to Goro II
Begin the walk out: 12km back down the Baltoro to Goro II.
Trek Goro II to Khoburtse
14km down-glacier to Khoburtse.
Trek Khoburtse to Paiju
15km back across the Liligo Glacier side to Paiju camp.
Trek Paiju to Jhola
21km along the Braldu River to Jhola, the last camp of the trek.
Drive Jhola to Skardu
141km drive via Askole back to Skardu and a hot shower.
Fly Skardu to Islamabad
Return flight to Islamabad; Karakoram Highway via Naran as the weather backup.
Contingency Day, Islamabad
Buffer day for flight delays, or a free day in Islamabad if you arrived on schedule.
Departure from Islamabad
Transfer to Islamabad Airport for your flight home.
