Deposits, Cancellation & Refunds
No hidden clauses. Every Trek Karakoram booking follows the same clear deposit and cancellation schedule below — agreed in writing before you pay anything.
Deposit & Payment
- A 20% non-refundable deposit per person secures your seat on any fixed departure (minimum $300).
- The remaining balance is due 60 days before departure via bank transfer or secure card link.
- Bookings made within 60 days of departure require full payment at the time of booking.
- Single supplement (private room/tent) is charged at booking when requested and subject to availability.
Cancellation by You
- 60+ days before departure: deposit transferable to any future departure within 24 months, no penalty.
- 30-59 days before departure: 50% of total trip cost retained.
- 15-29 days before departure: 75% of total trip cost retained.
- 0-14 days before departure or no-show: 100% of total trip cost retained.
- We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering trip cancellation and high-altitude evacuation.
Cancellation by Us
- If we cancel a Guaranteed departure (extremely rare), you receive a 100% refund or free transfer to any future date.
- If weather, permits, or safety force an itinerary change on the mountain, our guides reroute for the best possible experience; no refunds apply for unused services beyond our control.
- Two buffer days are built into every expedition itinerary for domestic flight or weather delays.
Travel Insurance Is Required
All trekkers must hold travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking (up to 6,000m), trip cancellation, and emergency helicopter evacuation. We can recommend expedition-specialist insurers if you need one.
